Ethanol Producing Plants from Biofuel Energy

Biofuel Energy produces fuel ethanol.  The company operates two 110 million gallon ethanol production units at Nebraska and Minnesota.  Pioneer Trail Energy and Buffalo Lake Energy are the two ethanol production units. The Pioneer Trail Energy utilizes advanced production methods and a dry milling system. The production unit has the capacity to produce 115 million gallons of ethanol per year. The Pioneer Trail Energy also produces dry and wet distillers grain as byproducts.

Buffalo Lake Energy produces 115 million gallons of ethanol per year and uses advance production methods similar to Pioneer Trial Energy. The unit at Buffalo Lake Energy also produces wet and dry distillers grain as byproducts. The byproduct is used a high protein feed for livestock.

Ethanol is produced from renewable sources, and it is mainly produced from corn. Ethanol is sold as E10 and E85 ethanol.  The E10 ethanol is a blend of 10 percent ethanol with 90% gasoline, and is used in automobiles. The E85 ethanol is a blend of 85 percent ethanol with gasoline and is used in vehicles, which use flexible fuel.  The unblended ethanol is never used as a fuel. A percentage of ethanol is combined with gasoline to be used as a fuel. Ethanol blends are expected to reduce at least 10 to 30 percent of carbon monoxide emission in vehicles. According to Argonne National Lab, E10 ethanol reduces 12 to 19 percent of greenhouse emission.
