Standard Solar Installs Solar Photovoltaic System in the Rockville Ice Arena

Standard Solar, Inc. has installed a solar photovoltaic (PV) system with 701 kW capacity in the Rockville Ice Arena in Maryland owned by The Maven Group. The solar system will help keep a check on the electricity expenses of the Rockville Ice Arena and also the future of the ice rink as an ideal training ground for hockey players.

Standard Solar’s President Scott Wiater commented that the new solar system will help decrease the dependency of on electricity generated from fossil fuels.

The solar system is expected to generate enough electricity to meet around 30% of the annual electrical energy requirements of the Rockville Ice Arena and will also help offset around 757 tons of CO2 per year. The electrical energy produced by the solar system can power around 72 American homes for one year.

The Maven Group will receive one Solar Renewable Energy Credit for every 1 MWh of electrical energy produced by the solar system. As per the laws of the Maryland State, The Maven Group can sell those credits for around $360 in the open market. Annually, the solar system of the Rockville Ice Arena will produce around 865 Solar Renewable Energy Credits.
