The EcoCommercial Building Program has been introduced by Bayer MaterialScience LLC in the region of NAFTA. The program focuses on providing materials and promoting partnership between academia, government and the industry to offer solutions to construction decision makers.
A Pittsburgh Green Building Alliance and the U.S. Green Building Council member Paul Platte commented that Bayer MaterialScience is scouting network member companies that can offer services and/or products for the seven building solution areas of the program, which include indoor environment quality, sustainable energy, illumination, daylighting and intelligent building.
The EcoCommercial Building network, by working collaboratively, can address environment friendly materials, energy savings and emission-reducing materials.
The products of Bayer MaterialScience that are used in sustainable building construction and design solutions include multi-wall and solid architectural sheets made from polycarbonate meant for sky lights, façade cladding and glazing that facilitate daylighting with decreased energy usage, polyurethane-based sealing systems meant for sealing flat roofs in order to create a root-resistant, seamless protective layer, LED lighting systems which can provide light while decreasing electrical energy usage, coating systems that are highly resistant to aging and require minimal maintenance costs, rigid or spray polyurethane foam is utilized for outdoor and indoor thermal insulation of walls, floors and roofs, and photovoltaic modules are utilized for harnessing solar energy.
