Horizon Wind Energy, a subsidiary of EDP Renewables, has entered into a 20-year contract for the sale of wind power with Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA), a U.S. government owned corporation. Under the terms of the power purchase agreement, TVA will purchase 115 MW of wind energy generated from EDP Renewables’ fist phase of Pioneer Prairie Wind Farm, located in Iowa.
Solar Development offers a range of ET solar modules. The ET-M572185 solar module is an ISO 9001 certified model with an output power tolerance of +/- 3 per cent. This module generates a maximum power of 185 watts at a maximum voltage and current of 36.30 volts and 5.09 amperes, respectively. The short circuit current and open circuit voltage of the module are 5.80 amperes and 44.60 volts, respectively. The ET-M572185 solar module has a maximum system voltage of 1000 volts DC with varying power, current and voltage temperature coefficients.
The Spruce Line 180W photovoltaic module is designed with a double walled frame with holes to drain water. The frame has curly corners and uses no screws. There is a junction box that is fully sealed and it requires no maintenance.
The BP 365J 65W solar module is configured with a standard J-Box and clear universal frame. The J-version junction box has four-terminal connection block. The maximum rated power of this photovoltaic module is 65W and the nominal voltage is 12V. This large size solar module offered by Quad Energy has a maximum power voltage of 17.6V and a maximum current of 3.69A.
A German team of scientists has developed a technique to treat nanoparticle surfaces. This treatment boosts the efficiency of organic solar cells. Presented in the journal Applied Physics Letters, the work shows how 2% efficiency was obtained by using so-called quantum dots made up of cadmium selenide.
Suntech Power Holdings announced that it has supplied solar panels to 19 schools in Lebanon, which are located in remote areas, in collaboration with Asaco General Trade & Contracting, a Lebanese solar integrator.
Western Massachusetts Electric Company (WMECo) announced that it has selected a site on Silver Lake Boulevard to install its first large-scale solar energy facility. The company had planned to develop several solar energy facilities. Pittsfield Economic Development Authority (PEDA) and WMECo own the combined two parcels of land at the William Stanley Business Park. Up to 1.8 MW capacity of solar facility can be installed in the eight-acre site.
A 12.6-kW solar energy system was completed by Tanner Creek Energy at the Northwoods Nursery's operations site in Molalla, Oregon. Northwoods Nursery, which operates through its One Green World, is a grower of unusual ornamentals and unique fruiting edibles for retail as well as for wholesale markets.
Oerlikon Solar announced that Gadir Solar’s fabrication plant in Spain is utilizing its amorphous thin film silicon photovoltaic technology. Oerlikon Solar is the leading supplier of production equipment for the manufacture of thin film silicon photovoltaic cells in the world. Gadir Solar’s facility began its commercial operations in October 2009.
Bosch Solar Energy and Linde Nippon Sanso have decided to extend their collaboration at a new crystalline Si solar cell production facility owned by Bosch in Germany. Ammonia gas and silane will be supplied by Linde Nippon Sanso as per the new agreement. Both the materials are critical in the manufacture of high-efficiency photovoltaic cells produced by Bosch.
