Catch The Wind, a global major in the development and manufacture of laser wind sensors (LWS) and related wind sensing products, has announced that the company has completed the process of corporate re-domestication on to Cayman Islands.
The hydraulic system incorporated in the wind turbine includes a 7.5 kW axial piston pump power unit, 1.3/ 2°/sec geared motor yaw system, linear actuator pitch control, fail safe caliper brakes and a radial piston pump torsion limiter.
The generators employed in SeaTitan incorporate direct drive technology and do not require a gear box for execution. The integration of generator in the turbine allows the generator to remain dissociated from the load carrying components thus reducing the chances of deformation.
The rotor of the WWD-1 1 MW wind turbine is directly connected to the gear box casing by employing a double row tapered roller bearings thus transferring the load directly to the load carrying support structure and maintains the drive train of the turbine free from deformation.
Blades of this wind turbine are made of fiberglass reinforced polyester or epoxy resin, covered with a special surface protection, and are equipped with individual pitch system for blade regulation and control.
The rotor shaft of this wind turbine is molded for maximum power flow. The load optimized rotor blades of this wind turbine are made of glass reinforced plastic, measures 61.5 m in length and incorporate multi receptor system for lightening protection.
The individually controlled pitch system incorporated in the SL3000 series wind turbine is powered by servo motors for precise positioning, quicker response and least maintenance. The super capacitor back up power supply available for the turbine extends the working life, offers low level temperature performance and requires no maintenance.
Alstom has inaugurated its turbine manufacturing facility in Chattanooga, USA. The global major’s new facility is meant for the North American nuclear power generation and fossil fuel market, for the production of large turbo generators, gas turbines, steam turbines and related equipment, while retrofitting the existing steam turbines with cutting edge technology.
Kalahari Greentech, Inc. has announced that wind energy is likely to continue growing throughout the world, attributed to positive government policies.
Enovos Luxembourg S.A. has acquired the "La Benate" wind farm near Saintes in France.
