The commercial operation of a wind farm was commenced by Detroit Edison and Heritage Sustainable Energy, a Michigan-based wind power company. The power generated from the wind farm is enough to power about 2,000 homes of the utility’s customers.

AMSC Receives 100 Sets of Wind Turbine Core Electrical Components Order from XJ Group Corporation in China

China’s XJ Group Corporation has placed an initial order for 100 sets of wind turbine core electrical components with American Superconductor Corporation (AMSC). This was announced by AMSC, a global power technologies company. The components will be utilized in the 2-MW doubly fed induction wind turbines that were co-developed with AMSC’s wholly owned subsidiary, AMSC Windtec.

Bergey XL-R 7.5kW Wind Turbines from J. P. Sayler + Associates, Consultants

The Bergey XL-R 7.5kW wind turbine uses a 100ft Guyed-Lattice tower. Towers are supplied in 10ft section where crane access is impossible. The PV array in the wind turbine comprises two sub-arrays of six parallel strings and 48 to 55W modules. The PV modules can hold six modules each and supported by eight ground mounts.

Westar Energy to Significantly Reduce Pollution from Its' Kansas Power Plant

Westar Energy has agreed to spend approximately $500 million to significantly reduce harmful air pollution from a Kansas power plant and pay a $3 million civil penalty, under a settlement to resolve violations of the Clean Air Act, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and the U.S. Justice Department announced today. As part of the settlement, Westar will also spend $6 million on environmental mitigation projects.
