SunEdison, CAP to Construct Solar Photovoltaic Power Plant in Chile

SunEdison, a leading global solar energy services provider and subsidiary of MEMC Electronic Materials, Inc., has signed an agreement with the Chilean mining and steel group CAP to construct what is expected to be the largest solar photovoltaic power plant in Latin America and one of the largest in the world. The plant is designed to have an installed capacity of 100MW (DC) and will be located in the Atacama Desert of Chile. It is estimated that the plant will produce as much as 15% of the mining group's energy needs.

Suntech Power Announces Completion of Ground Mounted PV System in Saudi Arabia

Suntech Power Holdings Co., Ltd., one of the world's largest solar companies, announced the completion of the largest ground mounted PV system in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The 3.5 megawatt (MW) system is owned by Saudi Aramco and installed on the grounds of the King Abdullah Petroleum Studies and Research Center (KAPSARC), the world's largest energy research center, in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

NREL Receives Fuel Cell Hybrid Vehicles to Advance Hydrogen Research

The U.S. Department of Energy's (DOE's) National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL) recently received four fuel cell hybrid vehicles - advanced (FCHV-adv) on loan from Toyota through a two-year Cooperative Research and Development Agreement. These vehicles will help NREL enhance its research related to hydrogen fueling infrastructure, renewable hydrogen production, and vehicle performance.

First Wind Kicks Off Project to Preserve Endangered Seabirds in West Maui

Coffee Roasters Switch to Propane Autogas to Reduce Fleet’s Environmental Impact

Charter Fuels, a partner in the Alliance AutoGas network, is helping Berres Brothers Coffee Roasters switch two Ford E-250 vans to propane autogas to reduce their fleet’s environmental impact. Running the delivery vehicles on autogas will displace approximately 6667 gallons of gasoline annually, while saving over $5,000 in fuel costs for each vehicle.

CPUC Approves Sale of Power from 150 MW Rice Solar Energy Project

SolarReserve, a U.S. developer of large-scale solar power projects, received unanimous approval from the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) to sell power from its 150-megawatt solar project under an amended 25-year power purchase agreement (PPA) with Pacific Gas and Electric (PG&E). The Rice Solar Energy Project will be the first large-scale solar project in the state to include energy storage capabilities.

Panasonic Eco Completes CU-Boulder 500 kW Solar PV Power Project

Panasonic Eco Solutions North America announces that it has completed a 500 kW solar photovoltaic (PV) power generation installation at the University of Colorado Boulder (CU-Boulder). The system was developed and built by Panasonic with local support from Lighthouse Solar. Financing was provided by a subsidiary of Renewable Social Benefits Fund ("RSBF"), which works with Panasonic to finance distributed generation solar projects in the US and US territories.
