Giant 3-D Printers to Transform Waste Plastic into Composting Toilets

A University of Washington team this week claimed top prize in the first 3D4D Challenge, an international contest to use 3-D printing for social benefit in the developing world. The three undergraduates won $100,000 to form a company that will work with partners in Oaxaca, Mexico, to build machines that can transform waste plastic into composting toilets and pieces for rainwater harvesting systems.

WELTEC to Construct 3 MW Biogas Plant for Uruguay Milk Powder Producer

A milk powder producer from Uruguay has engaged WELTEC BIOPOWER for the construction of a 3-MW biogas plant. The building work at the site north of Montevideo will begin in January 2013. In the first development stage, WELTEC will set up an 800-kWel plant. The full output of 3 MW is to be installed by 2015.
