Ormat Completes Construction, Reaches Commercial Operation of Plant 3 in Olkaria III Geothermal Complex

Ormat Technologies, Inc. announced today it successfully completed construction and reached commercial operation of Plant 3 in the Olkaria III geothermal power plant complex almost three months ahead of schedule. With Plant 3 online, the complex's total generation capacity has increased to 110 MW.

Solar Power Lights Up Mayukwayukwa High School in Kaoma, Zambia

Yingli Green Energy Holding Company Limited ("Yingli Green Energy" or the "Company"), the world's largest vertically integrated photovoltaic ("PV") manufacturer, known as "Yingli Solar", today announced that the Company and SolarAid have lit up Mayukwayukwa High School in Kaoma, Zambia by installing a solar PV system on the newly built UNHCR (United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees) School. Thanks to the contributions of the Company's partners including Atama Solar Energy, Kingspan Energy and Solar Roof Systems, the project was successfully completed.

New Design Rules for Producing More Efficient Solar Cells

The goal of making cheap organic solar cells may have gotten a little more approachable with a new understanding of the basic science of charge separation presented in a paper published online today, February 3, in Nature Communications. Co-authored by Penn State electrical engineer Noel Giebink with lead author Bethany Bernardo, an undergraduate in his group, and colleagues at IMEC in Belgium, Argonne National Lab, Northwestern, and Princeton, the paper suggests design rules for making more efficient solar cells in the future.

City of the Lordsburg to Install 1.5 MW of Solar Energy Projects

Sparq, Inc. (Sparq), Nautilus Solar Energy, LLC ("Nautilus Solar") and The City of Lordsburg, New Mexico announced today an agreement to supply solar energy to the City of the Lordsburg. The 1.5 MW solar energy project ("Project") will comprise of rooftop and ground mount solar installations for behind-the-meter applications at the city's waste water treatment plant, well pumping station, fluoride plant, city hall and fire station. The systems are expected to go on-line late in the summer of 2014.

California American Water Seeks Grant to Install $3-Million Slant Test Well
