ENERCON offers the ENERCON E-82 wind turbine suitable to deploy in locations with medium wind speeds. This wind turbine incorporates an upwind type of rotor with active pitch control.
The diameter of the rotor is 82 m and the three blades incorporated in the rotor are made of fiberglass epoxy resin and integrated for protection against lightening. The blades rotate in clockwise direction and cover a swept area of 5,281 m2. The rated variable speed of the rotor is 6–19.5 rpm.
The turbine incorporated in the ENERCON E-82 wind turbine is a gearless model with variable speed and variable pitch control. This wind turbine deploys a self-governing pitch system for each of the rotor blade with apportioned emergency power supply. The ENERCON direct drive synchronous annular generator incorporated in this wind turbine utilizes a rigid hub and dual-row tapered or single-row cylindrical roller bearings as main bearing.
The ENERCON E-82 wind turbine provided by ENERCON incorporates a direct-grid feeding converter. For stopping the wind turbine, this model utilizes three independent blade pitch systems with exigency power supply, a rotor brake and a rotor lock. Active yaw control through adjustment gears and load dependent damping is utilized in this wind turbine model. The cut-out wind speed of the turbine is in the range 28–34 m/s and this model incorporates ENERCON SCADA remote monitoring system.
