Enercon manufactures the following models of wind turbines: E-33, E-44, E48, E-53, E-70 and E-82. The E-70 wind turbine is designed for areas having high wind speed. It has a rated power of 2.3MW and includes steel as well as pre-cast concrete towers to yield maximum energy. The cut-out wind speed of this turbine is 28 to 34m/s.
The E-70 wind turbine is a gearless design that includes the variable speed and pitch control. It incorporates upwind rotor together with pitch control. The rotor has a diameter of 71m and with the swept area of 3,959m2. The three blades are made of fiberglass/epoxy resin material and with lightening protection. The variable rotational speed of the rotor blade is 6 to 21.5RPM. This wind generator’s rotor use ENERCON blade pitch system.
The E-70 wind turbine has a rigid hub and the drive train includes direct-drive synchronous annular generator and single row or dual-row cylindrical roller bearings. For grid connection, this turbine uses ENERCON inverter. As braking systems, the E-70 model uses three independent blade pitch systems, rotor lock and rotor brake. This wind generator from Enercon has yaw control, which is active through adjustment gears. The ENERCON SCADA is utilized for remote monitoring and remote wind farm control.
