The U.S. Army has been supplied with a renewable energy storage and mobile trailer-mounted WindTamer turbine unit by WindTamer Corporation.
This innovative portable storage and turbine unit will be utilized by the U.S. Army for demonstration purposes for the U.S. Army Research, Development and Engineering Command ("RDECOM"), which is the largest technology developer of the Army and the Army’s main source for development, engineering and research services.
Designed by the engineers of WindTamer, this renewable energy trailer will be capable of rapidly deploying immediate energy to a user in the military by means of 100% solar and wind energy. The unit comprises a WindTamer turbine, which is utilized for providing power to a storage system present onboard. The unit consists of inputs for shore power AC and solar energy in addition to several 120 VAC and 28 VDC outputs. This trailer-mounted unit has complete monitoring capabilities for each and every energy component.
The Sales and Marketing Vice President for WindTamer Mark Matthews stated that this unit is likely to offset the high cost associated with transportation by way of producing renewable power on site.
