Arizona Public Service Requests Bids From Solar Installers to Assist Low-income Families

Arizona Public Service Co has recently called for bids to provide solar electricity facilities for a number of low-income families living in multi-building complexes.

The bids are called in support of the Distributed Energy Leadership (Utilities) Program initiated by the Energy Office of Arizona Commerce Authority.

The solar systems to be installed over the building complexes will allow the families to exploit the copious solar power for their benefit. The systems to be provided in one to four kilowatts power ranges will be installed after analyzing the factors such as energy usage of the customer, strength of the roof system to hold such an installation and the direction of roof available for installation. The financial support for such installations is expected to be provided from two sources. The program will receive a major part of its financial support from Distributed Energy Leadership (Utilities) Program which receives money from American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009. The second financial source to be offered by APS Renewable Energy Incentive Program is awaiting approval from Arizona Corporation Commission.

The clients who want to avail the facility and install solar systems are required to meet the stipulated conditions of Arizona Commerce Authority and other prerequisites in connection with the accounting and payout of federal funds consistent to the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.
