Amonix Inc. has installed solar systems in the Cal Poly Pomona University. The University’s Lyle Center has become carbon neutral with these solar energy systems. The University is celebrating this occasion by way of conducting an event termed as “Plug into the Sun: Green Light to Carbon Neutral” at the John T. Lyle Center for Regenerative Studies, located in an area spanning 16-acres.
This milestone has been made possible by way of the installation of CPV (concentrated photovoltaic) solar energy systems by the California-based solar company, Amonix. Amonix is a recognized leader in manufacturing and designing CPV solar systems, suited for the dry and sunny climates, while being a partner of Lyle Center for 12 years now.
Lyle Center will be using two CPV solar systems for generating 210,000 kWh of energy annually while displacing greenhouse gases to the extent of 85 metric tons, an equivalent of planting approximately 53 acres of trees. These solar systems will be meeting the energy demands of Lyle Center without the generation of greenhouse gas emissions while saving $30,000 annually for the university in terms of reduced energy purchases. The Lyle Center highlights the efforts of Cal Poly Pomona in becoming carbon neutral by the year 2030. The climate action plan of the University educates people on climate change, energy efficiency and sustainable living towards facing mankind’s environmental challenges.
Arnold Schwarzenegger, California’s Governor, has mentioned that California leads the nation with its comprehensive energy policy while reducing the state’s reliance upon foreign oil and also in creating jobs. The Governor also opined that partnership solar projects such as these would be promoting the growth of reliable and clean energy among California’s communities while applauding the efforts of Amonix and Cal Poly Pomona in their commitment towards the generation of renewable solar energy.
