W. R. Grace & Co, a world wide provider of catalysts utilized in the manufacture of various products including bio-diesel and renewable diesel has declared its intention to increase the production capability of silica gel at its production facilities located in Sorocaba Brazil and Kuantan Malaysia. The company is planning to start the erection of the plants at the end of 2010 and to commence its commercial production in the third quarter of 2011.
The silica gel offered by the company under its mercantile name TriSyl betters the production efficiency of a refinery by taking out the impurities from the natural oil feedstock with improved efficiency than any other product. The company has made the investment to augment the production capabilities of its Sorocaba plant and to start a new production facility at its Kuantan plant. Extra silica products manufactured from the production sites will be utilized in industries such as plastics, food and beverage industries and consumer industries. The Kuantan site which has commenced its production facilities in 1996 leads the company’s production capabilities with 40 different types of silica that are used in various applications in the manufacture of various products such as consumer, plastic, paint and paper products. A technical customer service lab located at the site supports the requirements of local clients.
The Sorocaba location which has commenced its manufacturing in 1984 is the largest such facility for the company in Latin America. The site manufactures more than 50 classes of silica that are used in the manufacture of plastics, paint, beer and other potables, edible oil and pharmaceutical industries. The local clients utilize the R&D facility and the technical service lab.
