INEOS New Planet BioEnergy, a joint venture company of INEOS Bio, declared that it has awarded an EPC contract to AMEC, a Tucker, GA-based company, to construct its bioenergy facility to be located in Southeast Florida.
AMEC will offer its engineering and construction proficiency services to construct the commercial level bioenergy facility at an estimated cost of over $100 million. The proposed facility will use biomass to produce 6 MW of renewable energy and eight million gallons (24kta) of third-generation ethanol. The proposed facility will be designed to use biomass waste products such as municipal solid waste, yard wastes, vegetative wastes and wood waste.
INEOS Bio will utilize a patented anaerobic fermentation process, through which bacteria that occur by nature will change the gases obtained from biomass into ethanol. The process can generate renewable energy and ethanol from a variety of feed-stocks such as forest waste, municipal solid waste, agricultural waste and construction waste thus removing the need of utilizing food crops for ethanol production. This exclusive feature of utilizing any type of waste for ethanol production makes it convenient to construct the BioEnergy production facility at any place all over the world where sufficient quantity of waste products are available thus creating job opportunities for rural and urban communities.
Peter Williams, INEOS Bio’s CEO, said that the latest bioenergy technology of the company will help in better waste management. He added that the technology offered by the company deviates from the conventional food-for-fuel concept and offers large quantity of reusable bioenergy for both new and developed markets.
