EnviroMission Submits Application for Certificate of Environmental Compatibility in Arizona

EnviroMission has filed a notice of intent for a Certificate of Environmental Compatibility (CEC), with the Transmission Line Siting Committee and the Arizona Power Plant. A CEC is an all encompassing and critical authorization and permit, for development of power stations, and is the initial step in the plant siting development process.

The Line Siting Committee reflects on all the matters pertaining to the location of electricity generating units and transmission lines in Arizona, and recommends the Arizona Corporation Commission (ACC) to allow, deny or alter CEC permit applications.

EnviroMission has plans of developing a 400 MW solar tower capacity in the state of Arizona, which would help in generating around 2,000,000 MW hours of power per year, sufficient to power 4, 00,000 US homes. The electricity generated from the first constructed 200 MW Solar Tower would be sold to the Southern California Public Power Authority (SCPPA), as per the terms of a Power Purchase Agreement (PPA) agreed by the SCPPA in October 2010. This technology provides dependable and sustainable power that will be directed into the transmission in times of peak consumer requirements.

The La Paz County Board of Supervisors were very anxiously waiting for the successful implementation of the Solar Tower projects, coming directly after a few failed projects with regard to this technology. They felt that the Solar Tower’s zero water, futuristic technology should find acceptance among all the affected parties.

According to Barry Broome, the CEO and President of the Greater Phoenix Economic Council (GPEC), the council was happy that EnviroMission had its headquarters in Phoenix, to help in developing Solar Tower Power Stations all over the United States. Its ground-breaking technology provides creation of several economic investments and green jobs. He felt that the Arizona land, existing solar companies and solar capacity facilitate in making further investments in the renewable energy field. Chief Executive of EnviroMission, Roger Davey also commented that the company was firmly committed to follow and exceed the current environmental regulations and standards.
