Woodward to Supply Wind Power Converters to REpower

Woodward Governor Company, a business engaged in providing performance optimizing systems and components for wind turbines, declared that it has contracted a multi-year accord with REpower Systems, an offshore and onshore wind turbines producing company, to supply its patented CONCYCLE power converters.

Woodward has agreed to supply its power converters for the full range of wind turbines including offshore and onshore wind turbines manufactured by Repower.

Woodward will utilize its production facilities located in Kempen, Germany, Fort Collins, CO, USA and Krakow in Poland to produce CONCYCLE power converters. The power converters assist the wind turbines to deliver constant and reliable power to the grid by constantly checking the power generated by the wind turbines to maintain a steady frequency and voltage irrespective of the changes in rotational speed of the wind turbines.

Gerhard Lauffer, Electrical Power Systems President, in the company, said that the accord fortifies the relationship of his company with Repower particularly in the US and European markets. He expressed optimism about the growth in wind market and in the power convertor sales of the company.
