RPP Infra to Build Solar Power Production Facility in Tamil Nadu, India

RPP Infra Projects, an Indian company engaged in building of bridges, roads and highways, declared its intentions to enter into renewable energy market. The company has planned to set up a 5 MW solar power generation plant in Kamudhi, Ramanathapuram district in Tamil Nadu.

The solar power plant, expected to be installed over a 92 acre land, will incorporate crystalline solar technology. The project, planned with an investment of around INR 80 crore, is anticipated to be completed and commence its operations in the first half of 2012.

According to Arul Sundaram, RRP Infra’s CMD, the company has planned to enter into partnership with Thailand or Chinese solar cell producing companies for the project. The company is currently holding negotiations with Thai Agency Engineering Cooperation for their involvement in the project, and in search of a Chinese company to form partnership for the project. The final investment for the project will be decided on finalizing the partnership agreement.
