SoloPower to Set Up Thin Film Solar Panel Manufacturing Facility in Oregon

SoloPower has sealed a conditional commitment of $197 million loan guarantee from the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) to construct a thin-film solar panel manufacturing facility in Wilsonville, Oregon.

The resources will sustain construction of a facility till completion and at full capacity, is estimated to produce around 400MW of thin film Photovoltaic (PV) modules annually.

With 270 contractors required during the construction stage the plant will create 500 new employment opportunities.

CEO of SoloPower, Tim Harris stated that the DOE’s support is vital for clean-tech companies to promote clean solar power and helping the nation achieve its goal of energy independence.

SoloPower's range of lightweight flexible modules has received both UL and IEC standards certification with up to 260 Wp/panel.
