Gestamp Renewables is to build a Solar Steel Factory in Surprise, Arizona. Gestamp’s US Headquarters and a State of the art fabrication factory are to coexist on 27 acres of land, located in the Skyway Business Park.
This project would be developed in phases and in the first phase they would utilize 75,000 square feet and employ 50 people. In time, a phased expansion of the facility is being planned and would ultimately include additional manufacturing capacity, which would be used to develop projects in the North American Solar Market.
Gestamp would use the advanced manufacturing technologies along with quality control disciplines and processes that have proved to be a success in other parts of the world in the Arizona factory and produce steel structures. The steel structures produced by Gestamp could be utilized in projects that use PV solar structures and also those that use CSP technology.
Jon Riberas, the CEO and President of Gestamp Renewables has revealed that this Arizonan investment was very important to the company and that they strongly believed that the Southwestern US would be a hotbed where the development of large scale solar energy operations in the North American region would take place. He further added that Gestamp provided solar power developers with technically advanced, cost- effective and high quality structures along with exceptional logistical and operational support.
Jan Brewer, Arizona Governor remarked that Gestamp’s decision to build its factory in Arizona is proof that Arizona is the perfect place for Renewable Energy companies as Arizona had a workforce, which was highly skilled, a business friendly approach in both the local and state levels and low payroll taxes, which was also bringing in new jobs. The Governor then thanked Gestamp and welcomed them to Arizona.
