Satcon Technology has been chosen by Solar Cells Hellas for installing 20.5 megawatts (MW) of ground-mounted PV inverter solutions for various upcoming projects in Southern Greece.
Solar Cells Hellas will provide its crystalline PV modules and Satcon inverters for multiple installations. SDL Solar and Satcon will deliver 10 units of PowerGate Plus 500kW inverters and 31 units of Equinox 500kW inverters. The company expects to mount PV power plants and makes operation during 2011 along with delivery of the final inverter in September, 2011. Around 8,200 homes can be powered by electricity generated through the multiple installations.
Family of PowerGate Plus solution from Satcon with over 1.5 gigawatts (GW) is globally installed including PowerGate Plus 500 kW model over 1 GW. Equinox offers 98.5% peak efficiency jointly with the industry’s widest thermal operating range.
Solar Cells Hellas will develop and build its own 170 MW projects and 130 MW for its Greece and Bulgaria investors throughout 2014. Greek banks support the company by financing. In order to develop Greece’s solar market, the company will use components from the same. Solar Cells Hellas aims to form a long-term joint venture with Satcon.
Greece is growing as one of the primary markets for advanced solar installations due to the attractive feed-in tariff policy and high solar irradiation levels of SDL Solar. Satcon, SDL Solar have brought together the most improved technologies to Solar Cells Hellas.
SDL Solar and Satcon plan to buy a significant share in the PV market of southeast Europe.
