Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G), a gas and electricity delivering utility located in New Jersey and Matrix Development Group, a privately owned real estate development and investment company with offices in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, have opened a 3 MW solar installation over the rooftop of a building owned by Matrix in South Brunswick NJ.
The installation was completed under the Solar 4 All program of PSE&G, a program introduced to achieve clean energy goals of the company and to bring more employment opportunities and economic development to New Jersey.
The solar installation completed over 318,000 sq ft plus rooftop area of Matrix building, incorporates 12,684 crystalline solar panels. The power generated from the installation located at 45 Stults Road in South Brunswick, NJ, is linked to the power grid of PSE&G and will generate enough power to supply electricity to 500 average homes. The Stults road project was developed by Branchburg, NJ, located Pro-Tech Energy Solutions.
In addition to the present installation, Matrix also has a 2.8 MW solar installation at its Perth Amboy facility and it is functioning since January 2011. In both the projects that are covered under the Solar 4 all program of PSE&G, Matrix has leased its roof space to the company while PSE&G will to continue own and maintain the solar systems connected to its grid.
The Solar 4 all program of PSE&G was approved by the State regulators in July 2009. The program requires the utility company to invest and erect 80 MW worth solar power production projects to improve the employment and economic growth of New Jersey.
