SunPower, a producer of ultra-efficient solar systems, solar panels and solar cells, has declared that it will supply 75,000 SunPower E19/320 W ultra-efficient solar panels to a 24 MW solar project proposed by Akuo Energy’s subsidiary, Akuo Solar.
The project will feature two solar power facilities, which will be situated in the Region of Provence-Alps-Cotes d'Azur in Southern France. The E19/320 W solar panels will be incorporated into the ground mounted, fixed tilt solar systems for both the power facilities. Construction has started and is slated for completion prior to the end of 2011. The total estimated production capacity of the two solar power facilities is 36 GWh of electricity per year.
According to Howard Wenger, who is the President of Utility and Power Plants Business Group at SunPower, the company’s highly efficient and dependable solar panels are ideal for Akuo's new project in Southern France. Huge projects with major firms such as Akuo will strengthen SunPower’s global leadership in the markets of commercial, residential and power plants.
Romain Forest, who serves as Managing Director for Akuo Solar, stated that the company has collaborated with SunPower in the past and is happy to partner with it again on this development. With the deployment of 1.7 GW of solar power across the globe, the company’s established reputation in terms of panel performance and dependability will enable it to optimize the quantity of deployed peak power, while utilizing minimum land, as well as reduce annual carbon emissions, he said.
