Indie Energy Partners with U.S. Green Building Council to Enhance LEED Certification Process

Indie Energy and the U.S. Green Building Council (USGBC) have entered into a technology partnership for energy efficient buildings.

The collaboration integrates LEED Online, a software platform of USGBC to manage the certification process for the LEED green building, with the first open platform for third-party Energy Apps and real-time building data on the Indie Energy Network.

The Indie Energy Network allows performance-oriented energy efficacy through an open platform for Energy App developers across the world. The system features real-time building data and smart controls, analytics and optimization to enhance the performance of both the existing and new buildings. The Energy App Exchange offers a user-friendly framework and an open source for integrated applications, including renewable resource optimization, facilities management, certification, ongoing commissioning, measurement & verification.

The US Business Council for Sustainable Development, WMA, Energy Center of Wisconsin, Building Momentum Group, Ygrene Energy Fund, Gannett Fleming and Kiewit Building Group are the organizations already devising Energy Apps on the Indie Energy Network.

Mahesh Ramanujam, who serves as Chief Operating Officer at USGBC, stated that the Indie Energy partnership allows the council to utilize an open market technology platform that will incorporate the LEED certification process with third-party applications for the ongoing commissioning and M&V, and real-time data.

The Chief Executive Officer at Indie Energy, Daniel Cheifetz stated that by integrating the Indie Energy Network and Energy App Exchange with LEED Online, the company has expanded the first open platform for real-time, secure building applications and data for the simple and precise certification and re-certification of LEED projects.
