More Endorsements for Camco for its Energy Saving Solutions

Camco, a global developer of clean energy solutions and projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions has been crowned “Sustainable Consultancy of the Year” for its work in the sustainable housing sector.

Camco also won the award for “Energy Saving Initiative of the Year” for its contribution to the Retrofit South East project.

The awards, which are organised by Inside Housing Magazine and the Chartered Institute of Housing, celebrate those projects and organisations that are at the vanguard of housing sustainability best practice. The awards are considered an important indicator in the housing market.

Duncan Price, Director at Camco Advisory Services UK, who received the award at a ceremony last week, said: “It’s great to see Camco’s expertise in sustainable housing recognised by this award. It is a reflection of the work we have done in this sector over the last five years. The team has worked extremely hard to define and deliver the sustainability goals of our clients in the housing sector. It is particularly nice that we are recognised for our pioneering approach and industry leadership as we believe that these early-mover experiences are essential for helping our clients to capture value in a fast changing policy environment.”

Camco is acknowledged as a leader in low carbon buildings, applying a mixture of technical and financial skills to develop and implement energy and carbon reduction strategies for existing properties and major developments including; pioneering retrofit programmes such as Retrofit South East and Futurefit, another project Camco had worked on that was a finalist in the awards shortlist.

Camco believes that housing associations – which manage 2.5 million homes - are well placed to deliver large scale programmes of energy efficiency work. Over the last few years there has been a real surge in interest in sustainable housing affecting both new builds but also retrofitting. During this time Camco has been working with national and local government, housing associations, technology providers and other organisations to develop pioneering approaches to financing and delivering viable clean energy and energy efficiency projects. Camco provides policy insights, housing stock analysis, financial appraisals and investment due diligence advice to both property owners and green investors.

Jess McCabe, the editor of Sustainable Housing, said: “In the last year, sustainability in the housing sector has moved on from being a talking point to one of genuine action. This time next year, the government’s multi-billion pound flagship retrofit scheme, the green deal, will kick off and when it does so sustainability will finally move from being a buzz-word to being a major opportunity for economic growth. Social landlords have been at the forefront of this progress to date - and based on the exceptional calibre of our winners this year they will continue to lead the government’s “retrofit revolution”.

Duncan Price, Camco Advisory Services UK commented: “The arrival of Green Deal and other new sources of finance represent a fundamental shift in the way that sustainable housing will be delivered. We are delighted to be working with industry-leading clients to unlock the potential for major investment in the UK’s housing stock.”
