Mitsubishi Motors is planning to launch its new MINICAB-MiEV (Mitsubishi innovative Electric Vehicle) commercial electric vehicle (EV) through dealerships all through Japan on December 8, 2011. This new minicar-class commercial EV is the second product in the company’s MiEV lineup.
The MINICAB-MiEV will be available with two different sizes of drive batteries to let customers select the traveling range that suits their requirements. The CD 10.5 kWh battery offers a traveling range of 100km with a single charge, but on the other hand, the CD 16.0 kWh battery provides a traveling range up to 150km.
The MINICAB-MiEV is reproduced from the MINICAB Van minicar-class commercial vehicles and is powered by the CD model drive battery as well as the motor drivetrain. This new EV model offers first-rate load capacity and traveling range compared to the MINICAB CD and its electric motor drivetrain provides better environmental performance and unusual power. It also provides exceptional operating economy at an affordable price.
The MINICAB-MiEV utilizes the identical drive battery, motor and other accessories that are already well-recognized in the i-MiEV model and shares the MiEV OS incorporated vehicle management system.
The MINICAB-MiEV comes in CD 10.5 kWh and CD 16.0 kWh versions and its drivetrain is 2WD. The CD 10.5 kWh model weighs 1090 kg and the CD 16.0 kWh model weighs 1110 kg. The maximum payload of the MINICAB-MiEV is 350 kg. The type of motor used in this new minicar-class commercial EV is permanent magnet synchronous. It provides output up to 30 kW (41PS) / 2500-6000 rpm and torque up to 196 Nm (20kgf-m) / 0-3000 rpm.
The MINICAB-MiEV is available in Cool Silver Metallic, Titanium Grey Metallic and White Solid colors and it comes with the Exceed Package interior and exterior upgrade kit.
