Rebuilding Together Baltimore, an affiliate of Rebuilding Together and national sponsor Shell, an affiliate of the Royal Dutch Shell, join together to enhance energy efficiency in the homes by renovating the home of the local house owner, Ms. Johnson.
The house renovations for the local homeowner, Ms. Johnson, was done with 25 working volunteers of Rebuilding Together Baltimore, which was mainly focused on the upgradation of energy efficiency and critical safety repairs so that the homeowner will have a safe, warm and dry environment inside it. While renovating the local house of Ms. Johnson, volunteers will also install the energy efficient, weather stripping light bulbs along with various other energy saving measurements. During the renovation process, the volunteers will also repair the safety hazards, which were present throughout the house. Shell allows Rebuilding Together Baltimore’s volunteers to repair the roof of Johnson’s house and to connect Ms. Johnson with a program to replace her home’s furnace. Ms. Johnson has been staying in that house for two years without a reliable heat source.
Rebuilding Together Baltimore strives to enhance the safe, healthy, and quality life style for the house owners by providing green home rehabilitation process to the house owners and their families. This green home rehabilitation will help the house owners to save money and to ensure a healthy life meeting their essential needs.
Bonnie Bessor, Executive Director of Rebuilding Together Baltimore, stated that Rebuilding Together Baltimore is delighted to join with Shell and also to employ local volunteers in educating the community towards the need of energy efficiency, apart from employing them in the local home renovations. Bessor added that Shell is keen to use and educate green practices in day to day life.
