The Fideicomiso para el Ahorro de Energia Electrica (FIDE) Certification has been awarded to KONE’s MiniSpace and MonoSpace elevators. The FIDE certification has made KONE to become the first and only member of the elevator industry to provide energy-efficient products across Latin America and Mexico.
KONE and FIDE jointly worked together for more than a year in order to form the technical energy utilization specification for elevators built on the VDI 4707 classification standard. The Association of German Engineers had prepared the VDI guideline, a code of practice based in Europe. Currently, this guideline is mainly utilized in Europe but is also used in other countries.
KONE is the industry’s first firm to achieve the A class energy rating for the MiniSpace and MonoSpace elevators. This best rating is given according to the VDI 4707 classification standard.
Mexico-based FIDE will honor the companies for their cost-effective and technical efforts in manufacturing energy-efficient equipment. FIDE is a part of CFE, which generates and distributes electricity in Mexico.
The addition of the FIDE certification has strengthened the company’s eco-friendly practices. Nordic Carbon Disclosure Leadership Index of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) featured KONE in October. The company has attained its goal of 50% reduction in energy utilization through its new series of volume elevators.
