A subsidiary of Suzlon Group and a North American supplier of wind turbines, Suzlon Wind Energy has secured an order to supply 57 units of Suzlon S97-2.1 MW wind turbines to a 120 MW project in the western US.
American Wind Energy Association (AWEA) has estimated that the 120 MW wind project could provide sufficient amount of energy to nearly 36,000 homes. The wind turbines are anticipated to be shipped in the Q3 of 2012. Procurement and production of the turbines have been started and foundation construction will be commenced in the 2Q, 2012. The wind energy project is set to be commissioned in Q3 FY2013.
Andris Cukurs, CEO of Suzlon Wind Energy, stated that the delivery of S97 turbines will meet the robust availability standards anticipated by their clients. Suzlon Group’s Founder, Chairman and Managing Director, Tulsi Tanti added that the 120 MW order emphasizes the company’s strong record of wind technology and services offerings.
The Suzlon S97-2.1 MW turbines, a part of the company’s latest S9X group, are mainly developed to enhance the generation of energy in low to medium wind regimes. The S9X group includes wind turbines that meet high customer demand for low to moderate wind-speed systems.
