Tradition Energy, a full-service energy management advisor and one of the nation's largest energy procurement firms, today announced the procurement of 100% green power for Third Sector New England (TSNE)'s NonProfit Center.
TSNE, a Boston-based nonprofit organization, provides management information and services to non-profit organizations. In 2004, TSNE created The NonProfit Center in Boston's Leather District. With over 110,000 square feet, the NonProfit Center is one of the largest multi-tenant nonprofit buildings in the country, providing nine floors of affordable office space to a diverse community of tenant organizations, including Easter Seals Massachusetts, The Green Restaurant Association, Susan G. Komen for the Cure, and the World Society for the Protection of Animals.
The building was developed using sustainable design and construction -- and continues to evolve its green management practices.
"In the early stages of planning, we determined that environmental management and sustainability were a priority for the NonProfit Center," says Jonathan Spack, Executive Director of Third Sector New England. "We used environmentally-preferable materials whenever possible, and in 2006 we received the U.S. Green Building Council's Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) certification.
"We continue to explore and invest in improved technologies with the hope of further reducing our building's environmental impact, most recently receiving EnergyStar designation. Purchasing green power was a logical step for us to take to underscore our ongoing commitment to sustainability."
The purchase of 100% green power also qualifies the NonProfit Center as an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) Green Power Leader.
"TSNE and the NonProfit Center are really leading by example and setting a standard for other nonprofits to follow in adapting sustainable practices," says Alan Kurzer, President, Tradition Energy. "As a division of TFS Energy, a global leader and award-winner in procuring green energy products, Tradition is uniquely qualified to deliver competitively priced and independently certified environmental solutions to our customers. We commend TSNE for their proactive role in environmental responsibility."
TFS Energy was recently awarded 14 awards, more than any other company in the 8-year history of Environmental Finance magazine's industry survey. Environmental Finance is a global publication covering the ever-increasing impact of environmental issues on lending, insurance, investment and trading.
