According to a study conducted in April 2008, battery-driven electric cars will replace hybrid vehicles in the new future. Almost all market participants surveyed believe that battery-driven vehicles and not hybrid vehicles will move up to first place in future individual mobility.
Already today, this development is considered the fastest cycle in terms of innovation and market launch in the history of automobiles. Electric mobility will establish new prospects for future business activities for automobile manufacturers, suppliers and the energy business - from the establishment of a suitable infrastructure to production and finally the recharging of battery-powered vehicles.
“With eCarTec, we are establishing a new Expo in Germany's trade fair landscape that exclusively deals with the topic of electric mobility. An event of this kind is unique”, says Robert Metzger, Managing Director and organizer of eCarTec. “Driving fun is a key purchasing motive for end consumers and has today become reality as a result of considerable progress made in battery development. The Tesla Roadster, a battery-driven electric car, features improved power and handling and does naught to 100 km per hour in just 4 seconds. It has a top speed of 200 km per hour and can cover a distance of 400 km. And, it does not produce any exhaust fumes“, Metzger says. “Only those who are at the cutting edge of this trend can benefit from this promising market. And the sales potential is incredibly high”.
eCarTec 2009 will present electric vehicles, storage technologies, drive and engine technology and will cover the topics of energy, infrastructure and financing. An additional training area where end consumers can test the latest electric vehicles and familiarize themselves with this technology, is also integrated. This trade fair focuses on developers, construction engineers, designers, managers, traders, car fleet managers, private car buyers and decision makers from politics and public authorities.
The leading trade fair for material applications, MATERIALICA – 12th international trade fair for material applications, surfaces and product engineering – will take place in parallel with eCarTec. MATERIALICA attracted of 7,000 visitors to Munich in 2008. The large number of representatives from the automotive industry will promote a synergy effect between both trade fairs. MATERIALICA considers itself a link between the engineering and supply industry.
