Don't let the color fool you - the newest Electrolux vacuum, though mostly black, is actually "greener" than it appears. Made of 55 percent recycled plastic and incorporating "greener" energy-saving features, UltraSilencer Green offers cleaning convenience in a quiet, eco-friendlier design.
"The Electrolux global design team had been looking for ways to incorporate recycled materials into our vacuums - UltraSilencer Green was the perfect foray into this category of 'greener' design," said Randall Sandlin, general manager consumer experience and innovation for Electrolux. "A majority of the plastic used to build UltraSilencer Green is actually recovered from recycled, shredded cars. So, who knows, the vacuum you get may have been a Porsche or a BMW in its previous life!"
Recycled plastic is just the beginning of what makes the UltraSilencer Green more environmentally-friendly. Equipped with a high-efficiency suction fan unit and bare floor nozzle, this high-performance, hard-surface vacuum is outfitted with nine amps of power. Furthering Electrolux's commitment to sustainability, the designers used packaging made from 80 percent recycled, unbleached cardboard and printed the manuals on recycled paper.
"The catalyst for UltraSilencer Green came from consumers' requests for a more environmentally-sound vacuum, paired with Electrolux's overall commitment to sustainability," said Jackie Cooper, director of marketing and communications for Electrolux. "The 'greener' elements in UltraSilencer Green are a great representation of how Electrolux is working to become more eco-friendly, while still maintaining superior performance."
Besides offering a better clean for the environment, UltraSilencer Green also reduces noise pollution for a more enjoyable cleaning experience. At only 65 decibels, it operates at the noise equivalent of a normal conversation. Standard features on the vacuum include a 360-degree swivel hose; a washable, reusable HEPA filter; and smaller cleaning accessories including a dusting brush/upholstery nozzle combo tool that clips to the hose handle and crevice tool.
The vacuum retails for $299 and will be available at bestbuy.com in September.
