NatureWorks Earns Four-Star Rating for Renewable Carbon Content

NatureWorks Ingeo has been awarded the first four-star rating from the Vinçotte OK biobased certification board for its innovative product, the Natureworks Ingeo polymer. The certification is given in recognition of renewable carbon content used in packaging materials.

Vinçotte OK Biobased Certification

The rating quantifies the amount of renewable carbon in the manufacture of electronic goods and personal care products. The stars signify, respectively, a content of 20–40% of biobased carbon for one star, 40–60% for two stars, 60–80% for three stars, and more than 80% for four stars.
The Ingeo biopolymer that NatureWorks makes from plants has been tested and proved to have 99% of renewable carbon. The company is proud to receive four stars for all 40 grades of its resins supplied to the plastic and fiber markets.

Symbols such as the OK biobased rating are indicators that provide information regarding the environment-friendly aspect of the product and thus influence consumers in their choice. By acquiring this important certification NatureWorks has gained the OK biobased rating for all its downstream products.
