Suniva’s ARTisun Series Solar Cells Used in a Solar Plant in India

High-efficiency monocrystalline silicon solar modules and cells manufacturer in the U.S., Suniva, Inc. has announced that its solar cells are currently powering a 1 MW rooftop solar facility in India. Reliance Industries Ltd. (RIL) Solar Group has commissioned and implemented the solar facility constructed on the rooftop of New Delhi’s Thyagaraj Stadium.

The Thyagaraj power facility was developed utilizing 3,640 280 Wp modules and incorporates ARTisun series solar cells of Suniva in RIL modules. The project is likely to produce electrical energy of approximately 1.4 million kWh each year, in order to meet the stadium’s energy requirements, with excess electrical energy fed directly into the power grid at 11 kV. In terms of emissions reductions, the solar energy produced through this project is likely to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by over 2,640,000 lbs per year. Developed by the Delhi Government, the Thyagaraj Stadium is likely to host Netball during the forthcoming Commonwealth Games.
