SolarCity has announced a $90-million fund with USBCDC (U.S. Bancorp Community Development Corporation), a U.S. Bancorp’s division.
Satcon Technology Corporation’s PowerGate Plus 500 kW solar PV inverters have been selected by GCL Solar Limited for deployment in three solar projects in China. Satcon Technology, a leading utility-scale power solutions provider, will supply 38 MW of inverters to GCL Solar, one of the largest utility-scale solar power facility developers in China.
The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, the Government of India, and India’s Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry are hosting the 2nd Methane to Markets Partnership Expo in New Delhi from March 2- 5, 2010. The event has attracted attendees from 30 countries and showcases more than 150 opportunities for capturing and using methane, a greenhouse gas more than 20 times as potent as carbon dioxide, as a valuable clean energy resource.
The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded UOP, a Honeywell company, a $1.5 million cooperative agreement for a demonstration project. The technology involves capturing carbon dioxide and using it for producing algae, which will be utilized for energy and biofuel production.
The Pure Sine Wave Inverter is designed to meet the requirements of diverse applications including, homes and heavy-duty industries. It is designed with a switching technology to make its size compact and light in weight. The 'power saving mode' is used to communicate to users when the energy level reaches less than 15W while the 'all master' mechanism removes the single point failure in order to increase reliability.
The Grand Valley State University green house on Watson has a southern exposure that provides passive lighting. Bauer Power has installed all the renewable energy systems in the house. The house is occupied by more than eight people. The solar photovoltaic system generates 2000 watts of power.
The three High Concentration Photovoltaic systems were installed in NV Energy's Clark Generation Station. The three installed photovoltaic systems spread across an acre in the desert. Each of the three HCPV systems is raised from the desert floor and tilted to follow the daily course of the sun.
This solar power system includes eight Sharp solar modules with an individual capacity of 170Wp. These solar modules together provide 1.36kW of peak output. This fulfills 56 percent of the total electricity need of the house. For one year, the solar electric system generates 1,017kWh that helps to reduce 577kg of carbon dioxide emission. The electrical usage of the house is 1800kWh per year.
Solyndra and DC Power Systems have entered into a distribution agreement in North America. Solyndra produces cylindrical photovoltaic systems for applications in commercial rooftops. DC Power Systems, a California based company, is a renewable energy products distributor.
Tony Strickland, Senator of California State, commented that the SolarWorld group is a major Californian manufacturer of solar energy technology capable of reviving the state’s interest to be self-sufficient in energy needs and green-technology jobs.
