Total Builds PV Panel Production and Assembly Unit in France

The oil and gas company, Total announced that it will construct a facility in France for the production and assembly of photovoltaic panels. The unit will be built at the Composite Park in Northeast Moselle.

The PV panel production facility will have 2,800 Sq. m. of surface area. With two production lines, the unit will manufacture about 220,000 solar modules every year, with a total capacity of 50 MWp.

Total has planned to start the construction of the facility in 2011, with the first production line is likely to begin operation at the year end. The unit will create about 80 new jobs in Northeast Moselle.

The President of Total Gas & Power, Philippe Boisseau, stated that the project meets the company’s strategy to establish a complete photovoltaic chain. The location of the facility will help them to strengthen the market capabilities, he added.
