Pepco Energy Services Completes Solar Installation for Pennsylvania Guaranteed Energy Savings Act project

Pepco Energy Services, an auxiliary company of Pepco Holdings, has announced the finishing of the Pennsylvania Guaranteed Energy Savings Act project and participated in its celebration at the Pennsylvania Farm Show Complex and Expo Center.

The ceremony fore-grounded some of the initiatives taken by the Farm Show Complex and the Pennsylvania Department of Agriculture in making the facilities at the complex more environment friendly and save the money spent on energy.

Pepco Energy has installed a 124 kW rooftop photovoltaic solar project for the complex costing around $3.6 million along with other energy saving features and a hot water facility. The solar installation will enable the complex to save over $300,000 every year on its spending towards buying power from utility and will reduce around 1,650 metric tons of carbon dioxide discharges from the complex every year.

The other clean energy green efforts of the complex include the installation of a demo type storm water garden installed by Susquehanna River Basin Commission, an all-inclusive type of recycling program and a 20,000-gallon water storage tank to store the run-off water that otherwise goes into Paxton Creek to lessen the complex’s spending on buying water.
