National Wind LLC, America’s leading community wind project developer has selected REpower Systems for the supply of 20 MM92 wind turbines. The MM92 wind turbine has a hub height of 100 meters with a rated power of 2.05 MW.
The wind turbines will be deployed in the Lake Country Wind Energy project, located in central Minnesota for the first phase. When all the phases are complete, the project will have a total capacity of 340 MW. The turbines to be supplied by REpower Systems will be the first in Minnesota. The company has completed projects successfully previously in Michigan, California, Washington, Oregon, and Indiana.
Per Hornung Pedersen, CEO of REpower Systems AG, said that this order and other signed orders during last few months indicated the recovery of its North American business.
Steve Dayney, CEO of REpower USA Corporation, said that the company is delighted to be partnering for the first time with National Wind for the Lake Country project. Steve Dayney also said that with this contract, the company was entering a new state, Minnesota, which is one of the rapidly growing states in the United States for wind energy.
Jack Levi, co-chair of National Wind, said that the company valued its new relationship with REpower and expected to build upon it. He added that the Lake Country Wind Energy project has achieved an important milestone with the ordering of wind turbines. Jack Levi said that the turbine technology from REpower suits perfectly for the project’s wind regime.
