The company's top position underscores its uncontested leadership in sustainability across seven industries. Siemens also received this honor last year – the highest that a company can achieve in the DJSI.

SGCC Places Order for 28 MW of Multicrystalline YGE Series PV Modules from Yingli China

New Fortum Biomass Combined Heat and Power Plant Inaugurated in Latvia

Andris Bçrziòð, the President of Latvia, and Sauli Niinistö, the President of Finland, have today inaugurated Fortum’s new combined heat and power (CHP) plant in the Latvian city of Jelgava. The new power plant uses biomass as fuel and will provide district heating to the residents and businesses in Jelgava as well as electricity to the electricity market. The new plant covers approximately 85% of the city’s district heating demand.

Covanta and DEA Partner to Convert Unwanted Medications into Clean, Renewable Energy

Covanta Tulsa Renewable Energy recently partnered with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) of Arkansas and Texas to safely destroy over 44,000 pounds of unwanted medications collected during National Prescription Drug Take-Back Day. The collected drugs are combusted at high temperatures and converted into clean, renewable energy at no charge through Covanta’s Rx4Safety program.

JA Solar Supplies 96 MW of Modules to Two Chinese Projects

JA Solar Holdings Co., Ltd., one of the world's largest manufacturers of high-performance solar power products, today announced that it will supply 96 MW of solar modules to CPI Huanghe Hydropower Development Co., Ltd., a wholly-owned subsidiary of China Power Investment Corporation ("CPI"), for use on two solar projects in China's Qinghai Province. Delivery of the modules has already commenced and will be completed later this month.
