Graceland University has inked a new partnership to get access to UhaulCarShare’s sophisticated car-sharing service to allow more transportation options for the university staff, faculty, and students and enable them to maintain a sustainable lifestyle in one convenient cost-effective packaging. Each shared car eliminates the use of 15 to 20 personally owned vehicles, thus improving air quality and decreasing parking congestion.

Researchers from the University of Bonn’s Steinmann-Institute for Geology, Mineralogy and Paleontology in conjunction with Israel’s Geological Service and German Research Center for Geosciences have been able to deduce the climatic conditions of the Dead Sea over the last 10,000 years by studying the fossilized pollen present in soil samples obtained by drilling for 21 m in the west bank of the Dead Sea at the oasis Ein Gedi.

The Worldwatch Institute has reported that the subsidies for fossil fuel and renewable energy are increasing. The value of fossil fuel subsidies in 2012 is estimated to be between $775 billion and $1 trillion, while the value of renewable energy subsidies were $66 billion in 2010. The total subsidies for renewable energy are higher per kWh though they are lower in terms of value.
