The Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank) of the US has presented the Renewable-Energy Exporter of the Year award to Northern Power Systems, a manufacturer of wind turbine products. The company is exporting its NPS 100 wind turbines for hybrid power uses and European Feed-in-Tariff (FIT) wind-farms.

The Solar Electric Power Association (SEPA), a non profit organization, has conducted a nationwide survey on solar power installations. Over 240 utilities participated in SEPA’s 2011 Utility Solar Rankings survey. Finally, Pacific Gas and Electric Company (PG&E), a supplier of solar energy, has been selected as the topmost solar power provider for the year 2011.

Citizen Power, a non- profit organization, has announced the supply of affordable wind power to certain parts of Pennsylvania. The company has teamed up with TriEagle Energy, a developer of wind products, to provide wind power strategies to residences in the Duquesne Light service territory that includes Beaver and Allegheny counties as well.

A team of researchers from the Tsinghua University and Rice University has demonstrated that a combination of carbon nanotube forests and a sulfide-based electrolyte can be used to fabricate high-efficient dye-sensitized solar cells (DSC) at a cost lower than that of conventional silicon-based solar cells.

The 1.5 MW solar project is being constructed at a family-owned North Carolina soybean farm. The energy produced through this farm will be used by the Sandy Cross Vineyard community.

GE Energy, a company that serves the energy sector, has announced at the EWEA (European Wind Energy Association) 2012 annual event in Copenhagen that it has exceeded 2 GW of capacity by installing its 2.5 wind turbines across the world. This capacity is sufficient to provide clean electricity for nearly 1.4 million houses in Europe.

Waste Management (WM) has unveiled the first Gas-To-Energy power plant in Northern Nevada. The new plant at Lockwood Landfill will use landfill gas to produce 3.2 MW of electricity. The electricity produced is sufficient to power over 1800 houses.

TROPICAL, a developer of fuel-cell power generation systems, has declared that its GreenGen N5, 5 KW natural-gas fuel-cell power systems will be installed by ASPATE, a company that develops large-scale energy projects. These power systems will be installed in 500 new houses that come under the bioclimatic residential construction project of ASPATE.

AC Transit, a transit agency, and several other associates have launched a hydrogen production and dispensing fuel station. The station provides hydrogen fuel for the new zero-emission fuel cell buses plying across the San Francisco Bay Area. Furthermore, the hydrogen fuel is partly generated using solar-powered electrolysis.
